ABOUT ALA GÅRD
Ala Gård was originally called Örby Gård and was originally purchased by our grandmother’s grandfather Carl-August and grandmother Mina in 1897. The farm was sold in 1972 but was bought back by the family in 2018 and later merged with the neighboring farm Ala. Six generations later (seven if you count our children!) we are very proud and happy to welcome guests and visitors to Ala to take part in our fine estate.
On the farm we have 33 highland cows and 26 cloven-hoofed sheep that graze in lush forest groves and help keep the soil fertile and our fields open. The farm shop sells carefully selected local products, our own honey, coffee roasted on the farm, and must and apple cider vinegar made from apples from our 200 apple trees.
The café offers light lunch options and a wide range of fika bread baked in the bakery on the farm, and the paint booth next door is filled with crafts for the little ones. Enjoy a cup of coffee and a bun on our large sun terrace with a view of our pastures and Vassunda Church, or borrow a picnic blanket and rest in the grass under the shade of our oak trees.

Yes, dogs are welcome everywhere on the farm. We kindly ask that you keep them on a leash at all times. We love dogs, but we want everyone to show respect for other guests and the animals on the farm.
We have Highland Cattle and sheep. The cows roam in a large pasture with forest, so they’re not always visible. This is not a 4H farm or a zoo – the animals live on their own terms.

Ala Gård is located in Vassunda, between Sigtuna and Knivsta. It takes about 25 minutes from Uppsala and 45 minutes from Stockholm to get to us!
